Industry Board appointments strengthen TIO’s communication sector expertise

Summary
The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) has welcomed a new Director with Industry Experience to its Board, helping strengthen its commitment to fair and effective dispute resolution in the communications sector.

Matt Healy brings broad experience from government, technology and regulation. He’s served as a Director at the ACCC, held an executive role in an ASX‑listed technology firm and worked as a Senior Adviser to a Federal Minister. Matt also leads a multi‑university research project on AI and serves on not‑for‑profit boards.

At a time when trust in institutions is low and cost of living pressures are high, an effective consumer dispute resolution function like the TIO has never been more important.

“The TIO has a strong track record in helping resolve matters for consumers and suppliers in an increasingly complex sector. As a director with industry experience, I'll draw upon my background in government, across telcos and in guiding regulation to progress the important work of the TIO.”

The TIO has also reappointed Maha Krishnapillai for a further three years.

“It’s given me valuable insight into the impact of our work and the importance of strong, diverse governance. Looking ahead, I’m excited to enhance the effectiveness of the TIO, improve stakeholder engagement, recognise industry challenges and to help the TIO evolve to meet the future.”
