Some Apple devices are having issues connecting to Triple Zero

Summary
We are aware of reports that some people may be having difficulty contacting Triple Zero (000) using older Apple devices, including iPhones.

What we know so far

Early information suggests this may be related to Apple software.

The latest update from Telstra at 3.30 pm on 29 January provides advice on which Apple devices are impacted and how to install updates to fix the problem:

If you are in an emergency

If you are unable to contact Triple Zero and your safety is at risk, seek help straight away through neighbours or people nearby, local emergency services or community or support networks.

When it is safe to do so, contact your telecommunications provider as soon as you can to report the issue.

How we can help

If you have a complaint about being unable to call Triple Zero, contact your phone provider first

If you cannot contact your provider, or you are not satisfied with their response, you can contact us. We can refer the matter to your provider and ask them to investigate as a priority, particularly where there are safety or health risks.
