Reappointment of TIO Board member Julie Hamblin

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) is pleased to announce the reappointment of Julie Hamblin as a member of its Board of Directors.

Julie has been reappointed to the Board for a second three-year term as an Independent Director with Not-for-Profit Governance experience, effective 12 November 2022.

Julie is currently a member of the Board’s People Committee. She has more than 25 years’ experience as a lawyer and policy consultant in the health, disability, and not-for-profit sectors, specialising in governance and risk.

She currently chairs the Boards of AVI and Maluk Timor Australia and is an independent Board member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She is also Deputy Chair of the Australian Research Integrity Committee.

Previous Board roles have included Chair of Autism Spectrum Australia and Deputy Chair of Plan International Australia. She has a particular interest in global health and governance having worked with the United Nations Development Programme and other organisations on projects relating to public health and HIV/AIDS in more than 20 countries in Asia, the Pacific, Africa and Eastern Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, TIO Board Chair Professor the Hon. Michael Lavarch AO said, “It’s fantastic to have Julie on board for another three-year term. Over her time at the TIO, Julie has had a continual focus on the health and wellbeing of employees, and brought a new and welcome perspective from her experience in the not-for-profit and health sectors.”

The Board of TIO Limited is chaired by an independent Director and comprises a balanced mix of Directors with industry and consumer experience, an Independent Director with not-for-profit governance experience and an Independent Director with commercial governance experience.
