Optus’ enforceable undertaking to the ACCC on unconscionable conduct

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and Optus Mobile Pty Ltd (Optus) have agreed to a $100 million penalty, subject to court approval, for unconscionable conduct when selling telecommunications goods and services to hundreds of consumers.

Optus has signed an undertaking, accepted by the ACCC, that it will remediate impacted consumers, including by providing compensation. The undertaking sets out further actions the ACCC and Optus have agreed on, including Optus improving its internal systems and processes.
