Geoff Nicholson joins TIO Board

The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) Limited welcomes a new member to its Board of Directors today.

Geoff Nicholson will join as an Independent Director in February 2016, after a recruitment process that began in late 2015, replacing long-serving Independent Director Jane Harvey who is retiring from the TIO Board.

“I welcome Geoff as a new member of the Board of TIO Limited, and thank Jane Harvey for her long and dedicated service to the TIO,” Board Chair Patricia Faulkner said.

“Geoff brings with him a wealth of experience as a non-executive company director and will assume the role of Independent Director with Commercial Governance Experience on the TIO Board,” Ms Faulkner added.

Mr Nicholson had a successful career as a finance professional, having held senior roles with OTC, Telstra, Foxtel and AusNet Services for many years. Since leaving AusNet Services in 2013, he has been a valued member of a number of boards, including not-for-profits such as Launch Housing, where he is Deputy Chair, and Hanover Welfare Services, where he served as Chair. Mr Nicholson is also a Director of United Energy, Marchment Hill Consulting and Athletics Australia.

Ms Faulkner also announced the re-appointments of Paul Harrison and Jules Scarlett, as Directors with consumer and industry experience respectively.

As required by the TIO’s company constitution, formal recruitment processes were undertaken for all three Board vacancies.

The Board of TIO Limited is chaired by an independent Director and comprises a balanced mix of Directors with industry and consumer experience, an Independent Director with not-for-profit governance experience and an Independent Director with commercial governance experience.
