Information for consumers affected by bushfires

09 January 2013

Telecommunications services may be affected due to bushfires in Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria.

If your telephone or internet services have been affected, please contact your provider first. If you are unable to resolve a complaint directly with your service provider, you are welcome to contact our complaint line: 1800 062 058.

Please be aware that bushfires may be treated as “mass service disruptions”. This means that the normal timeframes that apply to the reconnection of services have been suspended and we may be limited in the assistance we are able to provide to you.

Power outages as a result of bushfires in eastern Tasmania may be affecting a number of telecommunications services.

The Tasmanian Government is providing regular bushfire recovery updates, including information about telecommunications services, on its website.

New South Wales

The NSW Rural Fire Service is providing news and updates about bushfires in that state.

The Country Fire Authority is providing regular updates about bushfires in Victoria.
