A man contacted us to say that he had agreed to a contract with a service provider for a bundled landline and internet service. The service provider had not been able to supply the internet service, so it had released him from the internet contract. But it would not let him cancel the landline contract even though he had only taken it up because of the bundled agreement.

We found the consumer had only agreed to the landline contract because he expected to get the internet service too. Also, by holding him to the landline contract the service provider was unfairly stopping him from finding a bundled service with another company. The service provider agreed to release him from the landline contract with no exit fee.
